C693 LEAD-FREE BRASS DESIGNATIONS AND INFORMATION

Corrosion resistance found in C693 is equivalent to C314 leaded commercial bronze. Containing approximately 3% silicon, C693 provides high tensile strength equivalent to some stainless steel products. The silicon content also contributes to its good machinability and superior stress corrosion cracking resistance. The copper content is not less than 73%. C69300 has excellent capabilities related to soldering, brazing, polishing, and plating. Other characteristics include:

  • Consistent strength at high temperatures

  • Forms well for producing end-use components such as brass fittings

  • NSF/ANSI/CAN 61-2022 compliant

  • Excellent dezincification corrosion resistance (DZR)

  • Compliant with the Federal Drinking Water Act

  • Moderately low thermal conductivity within the wrought brass alloy category

  • Moderately low melting temperature and electrical conductivity

  • Excellent compressive strength
